Defect Recognition goes beyond the norm... Actually a two-part course module, it includes a section on "Improving the Inspector's Ability to See". This unique presentation covers common factors affecting human psychology and physiology. Facts discussed help explain why inspectors sometime miss things during the inspection process. It is followed by a module which includes over 300 defect photos, presented first with an explanation of what the student is looking at, and followed by a marked-up version of the same photo showing defects observed. "Inspecting Log Homes" is a must-have for anyone wanting to learn about log home inspections. The module is intended to familiarize the student with common characteristics of log homes, to point out some common areas of concern, and to help the student gain knowledge and bolster confidence when asked to perform a log home inspection. Construction methodologies are discussed.
Inspecting log homes is a task which many inspectors do not feel all that qualified to perform. While it is true that log homes are indeed different, there are also many similarities to conventionally built homes. This module helps point out these similarities and differences. The overall inspection process is discussed, as well as common defects found, especially in older log-constructed homes.
